The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Commanders watched Trey Amos slide 187 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. The bottom line is a respectable B+.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped tight end, which is a strange place to end up. They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
The back end got a real overhaul.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 26 they get an island corner at a price that makes it sweeter. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Ashton Jeanty in pick No. 59 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The roster fit checks out.
A cornerback of that caliber at the 80th pick is the definition of value, full stop. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Wyatt Milum at pick 147 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Tre Harris at slot 202 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They robbed the room for Zy Alexander here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They will replay Trey Amos at the Round 7 slot for years; that is how good the value is. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
