The steal of the weekend belongs to the Cowboys and Horton: B.

Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Tory Horton got past him. The Cowboys do not have to explain a thing at the Round 5 slot. More right than wrong, and a B to match.

Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.

Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.25 · Pick 25 · Kenneth Grant · DT · rank 19
Good price on Kenneth Grant in Round 1, Pick 25, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R2.22 · Pick 54 · Isaiah Bond · WR · rank 54
A straight-up fair deal on Isaiah Bond at the Round 2 slot, value and slot in agreement. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R2.26 · Pick 58 · TreVeyon Henderson · RB · rank 55
A clean, defensible pick in pick No. 58 with a little surplus value in TreVeyon Henderson. The roster fit checks out.
R3.12 · Pick 76 · Xavier Watts · S · rank 46
They barely believed it either: Xavier Watts still on the board at the 76th pick. A minor itch, scratched.
R3.23 · Pick 87 · Jaxson Dart · QB · rank 58
Taking Jaxson Dart in No. 87 is close to grand larceny; a quarterback that good had no business lasting this long. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R3.25 · Pick 89 · Quinshon Judkins · RB · rank 70
Quinshon Judkins in slot 89 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R4.16 · Pick 117 · Jared Wilson · C · rank 109
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Jared Wilson at the 117th overall pick. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R4.26 · Pick 127 · Smael Mondon Jr. · LB · rank 111
A slide stopped in pick 127, with Smael Mondon Jr. worth more than the price. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R5.11 · Pick 150 · Ajani Cornelius · OT · rank 114
The board fumbled Ajani Cornelius all the way to Round 5, Pick 11, and they scooped it up. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R5.21 · Pick 160 · Hollin Pierce · OT · rank 118
Hollin Pierce at slot 160 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R5.28 · Pick 167 · Kobe King · LB · rank 138
Kobe King in No. 167 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R5.31 · Pick 170 · Anthony Belton · OT · rank 120
A offensive lineman of that caliber at the 170th overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R5.33 · Pick 172 · Tory Horton · WR · rank 113
They will replay Tory Horton at the 172nd pick for years; that is how good the value is. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R5.35 · Pick 174 · Kyle McCord · QB · rank 125
They robbed the room for Kyle McCord here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R6.12 · Pick 190 · Mitchell Evans · TE · rank 154
You do not let a tight end like Mitchell Evans reach pick No. 190 and blink. They did not. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R6.33 · Pick 211 · Bhayshul Tuten · RB · rank 165
Steal is underselling it; Bhayshul Tuten at the Round 6 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R7.21 · Pick 239 · Kobe Hudson · WR · rank 206
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Kobe Hudson in No. 239, plain and simple. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R7.31 · Pick 249 · Jamon Dumas-Johnson · LB · rank 219
Jamon Dumas-Johnson in slot 249 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R7.33 · Pick 251 · Mac McWilliams · CB · rank 232
Mac McWilliams at the 251st overall pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
