The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Cowboys watched Johnny Dixon slide 42 picks past his grade and did not hesitate.
They are betting Limmer proves the room right and everyone else wrong. They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 24 they get a blindside protector, outstanding value to boot. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Adonai Mitchell in the 56th overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Beaux Limmer this early at slot 87. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Curtis Jacobs well ahead of where he belonged. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
No edge and no loss on JD Bertrand in pick 216; it is a wash and a sensible one. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A cornerback of that caliber at Round 7, Pick 13 is the definition of value, full stop. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
The board had Frank Gore Jr. higher than the Round 7 slot, and the running back fell to them anyway. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
