The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: Myles Harden, slot 233, roughly 65 picks past where he belonged. Some smart calls, some head-scratchers, and a C+ in the wash.
Reaching for Knight left real value on the table behind him. Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want.
Bottom line, the swing picks will decide whether this ages well.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 24 they get a cornerstone up front at a price that makes it sweeter. The biggest hole, addressed.
Junior Colson at Round 2, Pick 3 is a conviction pick that outran the value. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Kris Jenkins slid further than he should have, and the 58th pick is lovely value for the edge rusher. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Braelon Allen at No. 87 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
The board fumbled Brandon Coleman all the way to slot 126, and they scooped it up. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Brennan Jackson at pick 169 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Tyrice Knight at the Round 5 slot is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They talked themselves into Jordan Whittington at the 216th overall pick, and the board did not agree. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They will replay Myles Harden at pick No. 233 for years; that is how good the value is. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They robbed the room for KT Leveston here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
