Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Eagles spent the 171st overall pick on Myles Jones, a name the board had a full 43 spots lower. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.
That is a wide receiver worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 22 they get a sticky cover corner. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A clean, defensible pick in pick 50 with a little surplus value in Calen Bullock. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Jeremiah Trotter Jr. in the 54th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Tykee Smith at slot 97 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
The board had McCallan Castles higher than the Round 5 slot, and the tight end fell to them anyway. The roster fit checks out.
They paid up for Michael Barrett at the 170th pick when waiting would have done the job. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Myles Jones in the 171st overall pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Jaylen Harrell at No. 178 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Isaiah Neyor in pick No. 240 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
