The Packers looked at the value chart, folded it up, and took Trevin Wallace at pick No. 111 regardless, 123 picks early.
The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close. They will answer for taking linebacker early while interior defensive lineman went begging.
The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer. They banked enough surplus on Dixon to cover a lot of smaller sins.
The verdict is harsh because the weekend was, and there is little to argue.
Pick-by-Pick
A tidy little value on Tyler Guyton in the 33rd overall pick, a step better than break-even. It fills a real need, too.
Adonai Mitchell at pick 34 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
The board had cheaper options than Edgerrin Cooper at No. 41, and it noticed. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Jaden Hicks in pick No. 58, miles early. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Ben Sinnott at slot 65 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They paid a round early for Christian Mahogany in the 88th pick, more than the board wanted. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They talked themselves into Elijah Jones at the 91st overall pick, and the board did not agree. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Of all the spots to shop, they chose linebacker. Trevin Wallace in pick 111 leaves interior defensive lineman for later.
Rasheen Ali in the 126th pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Kitan Oladapo in Round 5, Pick 13 is fair value, right on his grade. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
By-the-book stuff, Jordan Travis at slot 169 squarely in line with his ranking. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A clean, defensible pick in No. 202 with a little surplus value in Curtis Jacobs. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
A top-tier cornerback at a bargain, Johnny Dixon in pick No. 219, plain and simple. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A big swing on Eyabi Okie-Anoma at the Round 7 slot, well ahead of any board in the building. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A slide stopped in the 255th pick, with Jalen Sundell worth more than the price. The roster fit checks out.
