The Packers went off the board in a big way for Trevin Wallace, 103 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.
That McGlothern pick is the receipt they will wave around later. The Packers indulged a want in Wallace while a need in interior defensive lineman stayed open.
Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
A wild overpay on Kingsley Suamataia in the 34th pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A clean, defensible pick in the 54th overall pick with a little surplus value in Edgerrin Cooper. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
They talked themselves into Cole Bishop at pick 58, and the board did not agree. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Ben Sinnott this early at Round 3, Pick 4. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Elijah Jones. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Johnny Wilson at slot 90 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A need, and now a little less of one.
Blake Corum in the 91st pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They reached a country mile for Hunter Nourzad at pick No. 126, and the board is aghast. It fills a real need, too.
A want over a need in pick 130: Trevin Wallace adds a linebacker while interior defensive lineman keeps waiting.
A conviction pick on Kitan Oladapo at the 137th overall pick that the board grades a round light. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Jordan Travis in No. 138 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Nice patience on Sataoa Laumea, who had no business lasting to slot 142. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They paid sticker price for Braiden McGregor in Round 5, Pick 33, and that is fine. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They will replay Dwight McGlothern at the Round 6 slot for years; that is how good the value is. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
