The war room fell hard for Tip Reiman, and it showed at Round 5, Pick 4: 42 picks ahead of a board that had other ideas. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.
They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. Spending an early pick on safety with quarterback, running back and other spots open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 25th pick they get a sticky cover corner at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
They talked themselves into Kingsley Suamataia at the 40th overall pick, and the board did not agree. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They liked Payton Wilson enough to skip the value, taking him in pick 48. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Jaden Hicks this early at the Round 2 slot. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Max Melton is a better player than Round 3, Pick 25 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A surprising call. With quarterback, running back and other spots still to address, they spent pick No. 91 on Cole Bishop, a safety they were not short of.
No edge and no loss on Javon Foster in slot 114; it is a wash and a sensible one. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
By-the-book stuff, Elijah Jones at pick No. 116 squarely in line with his ranking. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Brennan Jackson in the 126th overall pick, miles early. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They reached a country mile for Tip Reiman at pick 140, and the board is aghast. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A real head-scratcher, Tanor Bortolini in the Round 5 slot is miles ahead of his ranking. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Curtis Jacobs in Round 6, Pick 27. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
They took Jaden Crumedy at par in the 219th pick, which is nothing to complain about. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
