Whoever sat across the table from the Giants should ask for a receipt. They cleaned the room out, prying loose far more value than they gave up, and it was the quiet MVP of their weekend. One of the weekend's best, top to bottom, and a A- to show for it.
The Gadsden II pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. The imported veterans give this class a floor the draft picks could not on their own.
Getting Sanders where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. The roster is better shaped than it was, with interior defensive lineman chief among the fixes.
Bottom line, they left the weekend a clearly better team, and they earned every bit of it.
Pick-by-Pick
They paid sticker price for JC Latham in pick 14, and that is fine. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
T.J. Tampa in the 46th pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. Need-wise, a curious use of the pick.
No drama and no debate, Chris Braswell went about where he belonged in the 65th overall pick. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They jumped the gun on Zak Zinter, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
No edge and no loss on T'Vondre Sweat in pick No. 78; it is a wash and a sensible one. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Cooper Beebe at the Round 3 slot is a conviction pick that outran the value. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They took Tyleik Williams at par in No. 101, which is nothing to complain about. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
James Williams in slot 103 is fair value, right on his grade. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They liked Nehemiah Pritchett enough to skip the value, taking him in slot 116. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Zach Frazier at Round 4, Pick 20 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Raheim Sanders slipping to the Round 4 slot is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It fills a real need, too.
Joe Milton III at the 130th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
The board had cheaper options than Mike Sainristil at pick No. 138, and it noticed. Where it fits the depth chart is the real question.
Lathan Ransom at No. 140 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They talked themselves into Oronde Gadsden II at the 157th overall pick, and the board did not agree. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Good price on De'Corian Clark in pick 163, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Steve Linton in the 165th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
By-the-book stuff, Bru McCoy at the 166th pick squarely in line with his ranking. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A straight-up fair deal on Javon Foster at the Round 5 slot, value and slot in agreement. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Tre Harris at pick 179 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They did well to land Jahdae Barron in No. 180, just ahead of his grade. It fits a board better than it fits this team.
The board had Curtis Jacobs higher than Round 6, Pick 19, and the linebacker fell to them anyway. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
A market-rate defensive back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Dwight McGlothern. It does not line up with the team's obvious holes.
Collin Oliver at slot 241 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Zakhari Franklin this early at the 250th pick. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.

Josh Proctor at the 256th overall pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
