Boards are made to be trusted, and the Rams shredded theirs for J. Michael Sturdivant. He came off 45 spots early, and the room will hear about it. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
A whole weekend of picks and running back is somehow still a want. If one pick saves this weekend, it is Clark.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but running back.
Pick-by-Pick
Nice patience on Anthony Hill Jr., who had no business lasting to the Round 2 slot. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
They talked themselves into Daylen Everette at Round 2, Pick 29, and the board did not agree. A minor need, but a need all the same.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Markel Bell. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
The board fumbled Bud Clark all the way to pick 120, and they scooped it up. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Kage Casey at the 126th overall pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Jeff Caldwell at No. 170 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They reached into another round for Andre Fuller, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Xavier Nwankpa at pick No. 227 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Value said wait; J. Michael Sturdivant in the Round 7 slot says they were not listening. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Value with a capital V on Kaden Wetjen in the 232nd overall pick, a genuine coup. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Eli Heidenreich in Round 7, Pick 22 is fair value, right on his grade. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
By-the-book stuff, Miller Moss at the 251st pick squarely in line with his ranking. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Trey Zuhn III in No. 252. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
No edge and no loss on Carver Willis in slot 257; it is a wash and a sensible one. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
