After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Patriots committed. Jayden Daniels is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline. The bottom line is a respectable B.
They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want. Landing Wallace that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 3 they get a No. 1 receiver. The biggest hole, addressed.
In No. 10 they get a long-term answer under center at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Khyree Jackson slipping to the 103rd pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
A premium they did not need to pay, Luke McCaffrey a notch or two before his time. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
AJ Barner is a better player than pick No. 180 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. The roster fit checks out.
Jase McClellan at the 193rd overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Caedan Wallace at the Round 7 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
