The phones were a trap the Giants kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal.
The Douglas steal is the beam this whole class leans on. They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
Not a disaster, not a triumph, just a middling class.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a rangy last line of defense at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
In pick 10 they get a difference-maker at receiver, though they paid up to get him. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Peter Woods at slot 37 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Keylan Rutledge in pick No. 79. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Malik Muhammad at No. 105 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Dametrious Crownover at the 145th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Kaleb Elarms-Orr at No. 186 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the linebacker. A minor need, but a need all the same.
They will replay Caleb Douglas at Round 6, Pick 11 for years; that is how good the value is. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Keagen Trost slid further than he should have, and the 193rd overall pick is lovely value for the offensive lineman. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
