The Giants spent real capital to be 85 picks early on Dasan McCullough, and the board is going to hold them to it. A weekend that fought the value and lost, hence the D-.
The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. The safety hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The Delp pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.
Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, safety very much included.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 5 they get a cornerstone up front at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Chris Brazzell II slipping to No. 37 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Anthony Hill Jr. at slot 60 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Darrell Jackson Jr. in the 87th overall pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Nicholas Singleton at the Round 3 slot is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They will replay Logan Jones at pick No. 116 for years; that is how good the value is. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
No drama and no debate, Malik Benson went about where he belonged in No. 145. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They barely believed it either: Oscar Delp still on the board at Round 5, Pick 15. It fills a real need, too.
They paid sticker price for DJ Campbell in pick 192, and that is fine. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Aaron Graves in pick No. 193 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They reached a country mile for Dasan McCullough at slot 238, and the board is aghast. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They talked themselves into Logan Taylor at the 239th overall pick, and the board did not agree. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
