A masterclass at the trade table lands the Giants a B+.

You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Giants did exactly that with Kimani Vidal in the 135th pick. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B+.

Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. The Foster steal is the beam this whole class leans on. The veteran additions, Josh Oliver chief among them, give the class a floor the rookies alone would not.

The future picks help the war chest more than the win-now roster.

A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.11 · Pick 11 · Rome Odunze · WR · rank 9
In slot 11 they get a go-to option on the outside at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
R3.3 · Pick 67 · Christian Mahogany · OG · rank 98
Christian Mahogany at the 67th overall pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R3.8 · Pick 72 · Calen Bullock · S · rank 83
They paid a round early for Calen Bullock in pick 72, more than the board wanted. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R3.12 · Pick 76 · Max Melton · CB · rank 76
Max Melton in the Round 3 slot is fair value, right on his grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R3.26 · Pick 89 · Spencer Rattler · QB · rank 118
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Spencer Rattler well ahead of where he belonged. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R4.7 · Pick 107 · Isaac Guerendo · RB · rank 129
A big swing on Isaac Guerendo at No. 107, well ahead of any board in the building. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R4.11 · Pick 111 · Mekhi Wingo · DT · rank 108
Nothing to complain about; Mekhi Wingo went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R4.25 · Pick 125 · Jared Wiley · TE · rank 206
A wild overpay on Jared Wiley in the 125th overall pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R4.29 · Pick 129 · Jaylen Harrell · DE-EDGE · rank 208
They left a pile of value on the table to take Jaylen Harrell this early at the Round 4 slot. It fills a real need, too.
R4.34 · Pick 134 · Anthony Gould · WR · rank 142
They paid up for Anthony Gould at Round 4, Pick 34 when waiting would have done the job. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R4.35 · Pick 135 · Kimani Vidal · RB · rank 253
Kimani Vidal in pick No. 135 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. The roster fit checks out.
R5.5 · Pick 141 · Javon Foster · OT · rank 120
Javon Foster in the 141st pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R5.8 · Pick 144 · Christian Jones · OT · rank 132
Christian Jones at pick 144 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
