· 2 reaches
The Giants' one glaring miss is interior defensive lineman, a need they left exactly as they found it.
Wiley has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. The Benson pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.
Shaq Mason gives the group a proven body among the projects.
In short, they turned a good board into a better roster, and it shows.
Pick-by-Pick
Brian Thomas Jr. in pick 23 is fair value, right on his grade. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A straight-up fair deal on J.J. McCarthy at the Round 2 slot, value and slot in agreement. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Cooper Beebe at Round 3, Pick 6 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Dadrion Taylor-Demerson at pick No. 86 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Trey Benson at the 107th pick is the proof. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They paid up for Xavier Thomas at slot 141 when waiting would have done the job. A need, and now a little less of one.
They liked Jared Wiley enough to skip the value, taking him in No. 183. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
