Call it a hunch or call it a gamble, but the Giants spent Round 5, Pick 5 on Kaleb Elarms-Orr, a name most had 37 spots down the list. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
The safety spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The roster is better shaped than it was, with interior defensive lineman chief among the fixes. The skill positions did well by the weekend.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 5 they get a home-run threat at receiver. Exactly the need they had to hit.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Emmanuel Pregnon. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
By-the-book stuff, Darrell Jackson Jr. at pick 105 squarely in line with his ranking. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They talked themselves into Kaleb Elarms-Orr at the 145th pick, and the board did not agree. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Ephesians Prysock in the 186th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Nick Barrett at Round 6, Pick 11 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Kendrick Law at pick 193 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
