The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Giants spent their marquee pick on J.J. McCarthy, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback. One of the weekend's best, top to bottom, and a A to show for it.
The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. Pearl falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped tight end, which is a strange place to end up.
Bottom line, with J.J. McCarthy leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 30 they get their guy under center for the next decade at fair value.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Adonai Mitchell at the 47th pick. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Nice patience on Kamari Lassiter, who had no business lasting to No. 49. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Braden Fiske at the 62nd overall pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
