There is conviction, and then there is this. The Cardinals took Bryce Foster a full 36 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
A whole weekend of picks and wide receiver is somehow still a want. The Webb pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with quarterback chief among the fixes.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 8 they get a run-stuffing presence up front. A real need, handled.
Jalen Milroe in Round 2, Pick 8 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A conviction pick on Blake Miller at the 72nd pick that the board grades a round light. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They let Clay Webb come to them and pounced at the 104th overall pick. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Value said wait; Bryce Foster in pick No. 136 says they were not listening. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They paid up for Francisco Mauigoa at slot 168 when waiting would have done the job. It fills a real need, too.
Tosh Baker in the Round 7 slot is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
