You build a draft on nights like this. Jalon Walker had no business being available in pick 89, and the Texans did the only sane thing and turned in the card. The board pushed back all weekend, and the D is the result.
The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close. Leaving wide receiver unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, wide receiver very much included.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 25 they get a pocket-collapsing interior rusher. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Circle this one: Tyler Booker at pick No. 58 is a fall that decides a draft. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A linebacker of that caliber at the 89th pick is the definition of value, full stop. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Tyler Warren at No. 90 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A need, and now a little less of one.
Andrew Mukuba in the Round 4 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Sonny Styles in slot 165 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
A tidy bit of business in Round 7, Pick 25, where Donovan Edwards graded well above the range. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
