Houston Texans

The Texans cashed the board's mistake on Singleton: B.

The rest of the league will want that one back. Nicholas Singleton tumbling to the Texans in Round 7, Pick 25 is a gift they did not have to think twice about. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.

The cost of the Capehart reach is exactly the players who went right after him. The wide receiver spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.25 · Pick 25 · Tyler Booker · OG · rank 37
In pick 25 they get an anchor for the offensive line, reach and all. A real need, handled.
R2.26 · Pick 58 · Jalon Walker · LB · rank 22
Steal is underselling it; Jalon Walker at pick No. 58 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R3.25 · Pick 89 · Colston Loveland · TE · rank 47
Colston Loveland at Round 3, Pick 25 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R4.25 · Pick 126 · DeMonte Capehart · DT · rank 155
DeMonte Capehart at the 126th overall pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R5.27 · Pick 164 · Kevin Winston Jr. · S · rank 93
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Kevin Winston Jr. in slot 164, plain and simple. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
R7.25 · Pick 241 · Nicholas Singleton · RB · rank 97
They barely believed it either: Nicholas Singleton still on the board at No. 241. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
