The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Texans watched Bhayshul Tuten slide 90 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. No fireworks, but a solid B.
They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. They left with running back solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 25 they get a run-stuffing presence up front. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Tyler Booker at pick 58 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It fills a real need, too.
Circle this one: Jalen Royals at the Round 3 slot is a fall that decides a draft. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Somehow Andrew Mukuba was still sitting there in slot 126, and they pounced on premier safety value. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
A top-tier tight end at a bargain, Oronde Gadsden II in the 164th overall pick, plain and simple. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A running back of that caliber at Round 7, Pick 25 is the definition of value, full stop. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
