Dallas Cowboys

A sensible, unshowy class lands the Cowboys a B-.

Everything else got attention, and cornerback got none. That is a strange way for the Cowboys to leave a draft.

Getting Colson where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.24 · Pick 24 · Chris Braswell · LB-EDGE · rank 34
In the Round 1 slot they get juice off the edge, reach and all.
R2.24 · Pick 56 · T'Vondre Sweat · DL · rank 60
A straight-up fair deal on T'Vondre Sweat at pick 56, value and slot in agreement. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R3.24 · Pick 87 · Junior Colson · LB · rank 76
Junior Colson is a better player than pick No. 87 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R4.24 · Pick 124 · Malik Washington · WR · rank 118
A reasonable price with a little left over, Malik Washington in the 124th overall pick. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R5.38 · Pick 174 · Michael Barrett · LB · rank 180
Michael Barrett in Round 5, Pick 38 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
