You could see the war room lean forward. Bhayshul Tuten at pick 241 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.
Every board in the league had Nwankpa lower, and that gap is the story. For all the activity, wide receiver went untouched, which is hard to explain.
On the needs board they went 4 of 8, with running back the one that mattered most. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 25 they get a load in the middle. The biggest hole, addressed.
Tyler Booker at the 58th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It fills a real need, too.
A slide stopped in the 89th pick, with Andrew Mukuba worth more than the price. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
The board had cheaper options than Oronde Gadsden II at slot 126, and it noticed. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Xavier Nwankpa at No. 164 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
The board fumbled Bhayshul Tuten all the way to the Round 7 slot, and they scooped it up. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
