The board owed the Texans one, and it paid up: Kaleb Johnson, the No. 39 name on the board, sitting there at No. 126 like a gift left on the doorstep. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. They went 4 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
They came away with juice, if not much beef up front.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 25th pick they get a weapon on the perimeter at a price that makes it sweeter. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Taking Tate Ratledge in pick 58 is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
