Somebody in pick No. 239 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Texans sat still while Raheim Sanders, the No. 146 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. The bottom line is a respectable B.
Leaving wide receiver unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Job largely done: running back settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but wide receiver.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get an anchor for the defensive front. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Tate Ratledge in No. 55 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A need, and now a little less of one.
You do not let a tight end like Tyler Warren reach pick No. 86 and blink. They did not. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Somehow Andrew Mukuba was still sitting there in the 122nd pick, and they pounced on premier safety value. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
They will replay Barrett Carter at the 164th overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Raheim Sanders at Round 7, Pick 23 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
