The Texans robbed the room for Skattebo. Final grade: B.

This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Cam Skattebo, the No. 110 name on the board, stolen at the Round 7 slot. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.

Leaving wide receiver unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. If Jackson pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.

They left with running back solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.25 · Pick 25 · Kenneth Grant · DT · rank 23
In the 25th pick they get a pocket-collapsing interior rusher. Exactly the need they had to hit.
R2.26 · Pick 58 · Donovan Jackson · OT · rank 84
Donovan Jackson in slot 58 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A need, and now a little less of one.
R3.25 · Pick 89 · Malaki Starks · S · rank 17
You do not let a safety like Malaki Starks reach the Round 3 slot and blink. They did not. A minor need, but a need all the same.
R4.25 · Pick 126 · Gunnar Helm · TE · rank 70
Gunnar Helm at pick No. 126 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R5.28 · Pick 165 · Sonny Styles · S · rank 122
Sonny Styles at Round 5, Pick 28 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
R7.25 · Pick 241 · Cam Skattebo · RB · rank 110
Circle this one: Cam Skattebo at the 241st overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
