Somebody in Round 7, Pick 23 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Texans sat still while Bhayshul Tuten, the No. 156 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
They are betting Stowers proves the room right and everyone else wrong. Leaving wide receiver unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
On the needs board they went 4 of 8, with running back the one that mattered most. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but wide receiver.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 19 they get a disruptive interior force. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Kenneth Grant at pick 55 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Donovan Jackson in the 86th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Eli Stowers at pick No. 122 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Xavier Nwankpa in Round 5, Pick 27 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A minor itch, scratched.
They robbed the room for Bhayshul Tuten here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
