The board owed the Texans one, and it paid up: Jordan Hancock, the No. 191 name on the board, sitting there at the 239th overall pick like a gift left on the doorstep. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through running back. They went 3 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
Good work on the whole, with running back the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 19 they get a pocket-collapsing interior rusher. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Tyler Booker at the 55th pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
You do not let a safety like Xavier Watts reach No. 86 and blink. They did not. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Luke Kandra in slot 122 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It fills a real need, too.
Eli Stowers at the Round 5 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Jordan Hancock in pick No. 239 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
