The Texans spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Ollie Gordon II, the No. 164 name on the board, in No. 241. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher. The roster is better shaped than it was, with running back chief among the fixes. They came away with juice, if not much beef up front.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 25 they get a No. 1 receiver at a price that makes it sweeter. Exactly the need they had to hit.
They barely believed it either: Tyler Booker still on the board at the Round 2 slot. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Deone Walker at pick 89 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Gunnar Helm in pick No. 126 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They robbed the room for Sonny Styles here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Ollie Gordon II at No. 241 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
