The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: Cam Skattebo, slot 235, roughly 121 picks past where he belonged. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.
Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Running back was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
The skill positions did well by the weekend.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 19 they get a true top target, and a steal at that. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Tyler Booker is a better player than pick No. 53 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. The roster fit checks out.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Deone Walker at the Round 3 slot is the proof. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Andrew Mukuba at slot 120 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
No drama and no debate, Eli Stowers went about where he belonged in the 164th overall pick. A need, and now a little less of one.
Cam Skattebo in No. 235 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
