Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Texans were there to profit. Bhayshul Tuten, the No. 160 name on the board, should have been long gone before the 241st overall pick. The bottom line is a respectable B.
If Nwankpa pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. Leaving wide receiver unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
They went 4 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
Good work on the whole, with wide receiver the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
By-the-book stuff, Kenneth Grant at the 25th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Steal is underselling it; Tate Ratledge at the 58th pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Colston Loveland in No. 89 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Kevin Winston Jr. in Round 4, Pick 25 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
They reached a country mile for Xavier Nwankpa at the Round 5 slot, and the board is aghast. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Somehow Bhayshul Tuten was still sitting there in slot 241, and they pounced on premier running back value. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
