Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Bhayshul Tuten got past him. The Texans do not have to explain a thing at pick 241.
They punted on wide receiver, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. If Booker pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.
They left with running back solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 25th pick they get a cornerstone up front, even if it was a touch early. A real need, handled.
The board fumbled Kenneth Grant all the way to pick 58, and they scooped it up. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Steal is underselling it; Tyler Warren at No. 89 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A need, and now a little less of one.
You do not let a safety like Kevin Winston Jr. reach slot 126 and blink. They did not. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
A linebacker of that caliber at the Round 5 slot is the definition of value, full stop. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Somehow Bhayshul Tuten was still sitting there in the 241st overall pick, and they pounced on premier running back value. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
