Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Texans were there to profit. Ollie Gordon II, the No. 159 name on the board, should have been long gone before the 241st pick.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped wide receiver, which is a strange place to end up. The cost of the Kandra reach is exactly the players who went right after him.
Good work on the whole, with wide receiver the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 25 they get a load in the middle. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Tyler Warren in the 58th pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Luke Kandra in the 89th overall pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
The board fumbled Kevin Winston Jr. all the way to pick 126, and they scooped it up. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
A straight-up fair deal on Connor Colby at No. 165, value and slot in agreement. A need, and now a little less of one.
You do not let a running back like Ollie Gordon II reach the Round 7 slot and blink. They did not. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
