The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Texans watched Cam Skattebo slide 131 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
The Capehart pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher. Running back is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 25th overall pick they get a home-run threat at receiver, and a steal at that. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Tyler Booker in No. 58 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The roster fit checks out.
Somehow Tyler Warren was still sitting there in slot 89, and they pounced on premier tight end value. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
This one needs a full-page explanation: DeMonte Capehart in the Round 4 slot, miles early. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Kevin Winston Jr. in pick 165, plain and simple. It adds depth where they could use a little.
They robbed the room for Cam Skattebo here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
