Thirty-one other rooms let Cam Skattebo slide, and the Texans were the ones holding the card at No. 241. Highway robbery. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.
They will need Durant to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it. Running back was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 25 they get a plug-and-play piece up front, though they paid up to get him.
Emeka Egbuka in the Round 2 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Circle this one: Jalon Walker at the 89th pick is a fall that decides a draft. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Zane Durant at pick 126 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Xavier Nwankpa well ahead of where he belonged. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Cam Skattebo at slot 241 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
