You build a draft on nights like this. Danny Stutsman had no business being available in pick No. 239, and the Texans did the only sane thing and turned in the card.
They will regret leaving running back for another day if the season turns on it. Reaching for Nwankpa left real value on the table behind him.
On the needs board they went 4 of 8, with interior defensive lineman the one that mattered most.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
By-the-book stuff, Kenneth Grant at Round 1, Pick 19 squarely in line with his ranking. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Tyler Warren at slot 55 is money in the bank, a tight end taken below his worth. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Donovan Jackson in No. 86 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A need, and now a little less of one.
They will replay Kevin Winston Jr. at the 122nd pick for years; that is how good the value is. A minor need, but a need all the same.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Xavier Nwankpa this early at the Round 5 slot. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Danny Stutsman in pick 239 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
