Thirty-one other rooms let Nicholas Singleton slide, and the Texans were the ones holding the card at slot 239. Highway robbery. No fireworks, but a solid B.
They are betting Nwankpa proves the room right and everyone else wrong. That wide receiver hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
Good work on the whole, with wide receiver the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 19 they get a load in the middle at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
The board fumbled Tate Ratledge all the way to the Round 2 slot, and they scooped it up. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Colston Loveland in pick No. 86 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A need, and now a little less of one.
Luke Kandra slid further than he should have, and the 122nd overall pick is lovely value for the offensive lineman. It fills a real need, too.
Xavier Nwankpa at pick 164 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Nicholas Singleton in slot 239 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
