You build a draft on nights like this. Cam Skattebo had no business being available in the 241st overall pick, and the Texans did the only sane thing and turned in the card. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.

For all the activity, wide receiver went untouched, which is hard to explain. Running back was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.

Good work on the whole, with wide receiver the one box left unchecked.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.25 · Pick 25 · Kenneth Grant · DT · rank 23
In pick 25 they get a run-stuffing presence up front at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
R2.26 · Pick 58 · Tyler Warren · TE · rank 43
A tidy bit of business in the 58th overall pick, where Tyler Warren graded well above the range. It fills a real need, too.
R3.25 · Pick 89 · Xavier Watts · S · rank 48
You do not let a safety like Xavier Watts reach No. 89 and blink. They did not. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
R4.25 · Pick 126 · Oronde Gadsden II · TE · rank 129
A straight-up fair deal on Oronde Gadsden II at the Round 4 slot, value and slot in agreement. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R5.28 · Pick 165 · Sonny Styles · S · rank 122
A safety of that caliber at slot 165 is the definition of value, full stop. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
R7.25 · Pick 241 · Cam Skattebo · RB · rank 110
Circle this one: Cam Skattebo at the 241st pick is a fall that decides a draft. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
