The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: TreVeyon Henderson, Round 5, Pick 28, roughly 105 picks past where he belonged. The bottom line is a respectable B.
That wide receiver hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The roster is better shaped than it was, with running back chief among the fixes.
Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the wide receiver spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 25 they get an anchor for the defensive front, and a steal at that. The biggest hole, addressed.
They did well to land Dylan Fairchild in the Round 2 slot, just ahead of his grade. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A safety of that caliber at No. 89 is the definition of value, full stop. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
They will replay Gunnar Helm at the 126th overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Taking TreVeyon Henderson in the 165th pick is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A tidy little value on Shilo Sanders in Round 7, Pick 25, a step better than break-even. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
