The Texans spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Ollie Gordon II, the No. 159 name on the board, in pick 241.
The Jackson reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. For all the activity, wide receiver went untouched, which is hard to explain. They went 3 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Kenneth Grant. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Donovan Jackson in pick 58, miles early. A need, and now a little less of one.
Tyleik Williams at the Round 3 slot is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Somehow Kevin Winston Jr. was still sitting there in pick No. 126, and they pounced on premier safety value. A minor need, but a need all the same.
They barely believed it either: Sonny Styles still on the board at slot 165. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Taking Ollie Gordon II in Round 7, Pick 25 is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
