Call it larceny. Ollie Gordon II sat on the board until slot 241, and the Texans did not need to be asked twice.
Reaching for Capehart left real value on the table behind him. The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Running back was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
They came away with juice, if not much beef up front.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 25 they get a matchup problem out wide at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Colston Loveland at the Round 2 slot. The roster fit checks out.
Donovan Jackson in Round 3, Pick 25 lands just on the right side of the ledger. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Value said wait; DeMonte Capehart in pick No. 126 says they were not listening. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
You do not let a safety like Sonny Styles reach pick 165 and blink. They did not. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
They robbed the room for Ollie Gordon II here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
