The Texans spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Smael Mondon Jr., the No. 98 name on the board, in slot 241. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.
The running back spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Job largely done: interior defensive lineman settled and 4 of 8 of the wish list covered.
Good work on the whole, with running back the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 25 they get a pocket-collapsing interior rusher at a price that makes it sweeter. The biggest hole, addressed.
You do not let an offensive lineman like Tyler Booker reach the Round 2 slot and blink. They did not. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Tyler Warren in the 89th overall pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
The board fumbled Dylan Fairchild all the way to the 126th pick, and they scooped it up. It fills a real need, too.
Rod Moore in pick 164 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Smael Mondon Jr. in Round 7, Pick 25 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The roster fit checks out.
