This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Cam Skattebo, the No. 110 name on the board, stolen at Round 7, Pick 25.
They are betting Jackson proves the room right and everyone else wrong. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
Emeka Egbuka at pick No. 25 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Donovan Jackson at Round 2, Pick 26 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
You do not let a safety like Xavier Watts reach the 89th overall pick and blink. They did not. It adds depth where they could use a little.
They went early on Vernon Broughton in the 126th pick, and the value did not follow. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A safety of that caliber at No. 165 is the definition of value, full stop. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
The board fumbled Cam Skattebo all the way to the Round 7 slot, and they scooped it up. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
