Call it larceny. Kevin Winston Jr. sat on the board until the 126th overall pick, and the Texans did not need to be asked twice. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
Leaving running back unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Every board in the league had Booker lower, and that gap is the story. They went 3 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 25 they get a cornerstone up front, reach and all. A clean fit for the roster.
They let Tyler Warren come to them and pounced at slot 58. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They will replay Deone Walker at pick 89 for years; that is how good the value is. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Kevin Winston Jr. in the 126th pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
A straight-up fair deal on Connor Colby at the 165th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. It fills a real need, too.
A clean, defensible pick in the Round 7 slot with a little surplus value in Shilo Sanders. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
