The Texans spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Andrew Mukuba, the No. 71 name on the board, in pick 126.
A whole weekend of picks and running back is somehow still a want. Job largely done: interior defensive lineman settled and 3 of 8 of the wish list covered. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
Good work on the whole, with running back the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 25 they get a pocket-collapsing interior rusher at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A offensive lineman of that caliber at the 58th pick is the definition of value, full stop. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Steal is underselling it; Dylan Fairchild at Round 3, Pick 25 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
You do not let a safety like Andrew Mukuba reach the Round 4 slot and blink. They did not. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
They paid sticker price for Eli Stowers in pick No. 164, and that is fine. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They robbed the room for Xavier Nwankpa here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
