Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Cam Skattebo got past him. The Texans do not have to explain a thing at the Round 7 slot.
For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. If Kandra pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.
Running back was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a load in the middle at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Colston Loveland slid further than he should have, and the 58th overall pick is lovely value for the tight end. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They liked Luke Kandra enough to skip the value, taking him in the 89th pick. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Steal is underselling it; Jack Bech at slot 126 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Somehow Sonny Styles was still sitting there in pick 165, and they pounced on premier safety value. It adds depth where they could use a little.
The board fumbled Cam Skattebo all the way to pick No. 241, and they scooped it up. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
