The board owed the Texans one, and it paid up: Bhayshul Tuten, the No. 155 name on the board, sitting there at Round 7, Pick 25 like a gift left on the doorstep. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.
They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Booker has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. Running back is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 25 they get a plug-and-play piece up front, even if it was a touch early. A real need, handled.
Jalen Royals at the 58th pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A top-tier tight end at a bargain, Colston Loveland in pick 89, plain and simple. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They robbed the room for Andrew Mukuba here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A minor itch, scratched.
You do not let a safety like Sonny Styles reach No. 165 and blink. They did not. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Bhayshul Tuten at pick No. 241 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
