You build a draft on nights like this. Smael Mondon Jr. had no business being available in slot 239, and the Texans did the only sane thing and turned in the card. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.
They will regret leaving running back for another day if the season turns on it. The cost of the Nwankpa reach is exactly the players who went right after him.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.

In Round 1, Pick 19 they get a disruptive interior force. The biggest hole, addressed.
You do not let an offensive lineman like Tyler Booker reach the 55th pick and blink. They did not. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Somehow Tyler Warren was still sitting there in the Round 3 slot, and they pounced on premier tight end value. A need, and now a little less of one.
Steal is underselling it; Kevin Winston Jr. at the 122nd overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Xavier Nwankpa in pick No. 164, miles early. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
