For all the names on the card, the loudest question went unanswered. The Texans walked out of the weekend still thin at running back, a hole that has a way of deciding seasons. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.
That Booker pick is the receipt they will wave around later. Interior defensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 19 they get a load in the middle. The biggest hole, addressed.
Circle this one: Tyler Booker at slot 55 is a fall that decides a draft. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Deone Walker is a better player than Round 3, Pick 22 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They read the board right and Luke Kandra was the payoff at the 122nd overall pick. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They took Eli Stowers at par in pick No. 164, which is nothing to complain about. It fills a real need, too.
By-the-book stuff, Shilo Sanders at the 239th pick squarely in line with his ranking. A minor itch, scratched.
