This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Cam Skattebo, the No. 113 name on the board, stolen at No. 241. No fireworks, but a solid B.
The Nwankpa pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. They punted on wide receiver, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. They went 4 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
Good work on the whole, with wide receiver the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 25th pick they get a load in the middle at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
A slide stopped in slot 58, with Tyler Warren worth more than the price. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Fair-plus on Donovan Jackson, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Kevin Winston Jr. at the Round 4 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Xavier Nwankpa at No. 164 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Cam Skattebo in pick 241 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
